Pressure
and how to regulate it.
It all starts with a regulator, buy only good regulators because the cheap
ones will cause more problems and hinder your game play.Regulator - alows
to control pressure which enters the marker from air source(co2 or nitro
tank). Most regulators can control the presure from 800 - 200 psi, and
keep it constant, thus giving more consistant speeds of the ball. Regulator
also will save your air allowing for more shots per tank fillup. (if the
rest of the marker is properly configured).
Some good regulators are Hybrid Technologies Stage 2, Bob Long Torpedo,
Palmer Stabilizer, Smart Parts Max-Flo.
IMPORTANT:
It is not enough to just buy a regulator and turn the controling screw.
You need to adjust the springs on both hammer and valve(spyder / spyder
clone design). You can starve your marker or turn it into a gas hog. It
is recomended that you also get a free flowing valve and light bolt. Low
Pressure: aka LP in paintball slang, basic concept is this: use less gas
and lower pressure and still get same speed of the ball, get more consistant
speeds, and less ball breackage. It all revolves around the regulator,
but other components need to be replaced/adjusted/modified. The bolt should
be as light as possible with a big inlet air hole, and not venturi outlet
since they are known to be restrictive. Bolts made from delrin or nylratron
work best but there are many good light weight aluminum bolts, some are
cheaper than you migth think. A stock pirahna bolt from their early 1997-9
models is lighter and same quality as current green and red bolts avilable
today.
Valve
should also be a free flowing but most markers today come with pretty
eficient valves, replacement most comonly used is the turbo valve or rocket
valve, sometimes just replacing the cup seal and rod will work just as
well. Titanium hammer would help with weight reduction as well as you
could squeeze maybe 1 or 2 bps more if you are using an electric marker
and your frame supports it.
